Fakta Emilie started life as a Charlatans song but has since taken on a life of its on. After recording their version, Tim Burgess sent an instrumental with additional strings over to Laura Cantrell in New York. Laura wrote new lyrics as a kind of response to Tim's original words. That gave the world Emanuel a beautiful song in its own right. Additional pedal steel from Son Volt's Mark Spencer made it into what Tim has called 'Country and North Western' where Nashville meets Middlewich, where the song was first recorded.
